Getting healthier and working out

So as many of you know two years ago I took the dive and had Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass done. I have since lost over 160lbs. That is a whole other person. And with that I have been trying to keep the weight off to never go back to being that person. I feel like a whole new person now. Like the 160 pound person that I used to be no longer exists. It’s a good thing because now I am working at getting myself into the best shape of my life. I have been trying to eat better by increasing my fruits and vegs and meats while trying to cut down on my starch intake. Some days are better than others, but that is where the surgery has come in to save me.

I cannot eat as much of the bad food as I used to meaning that I can splurg and have a burger but I’ll only be able to eat half the burger before feeling full. Which means I can enjoy it longer and at a different time. I have also been going to the gym to try and help gain some of the muscle mass that I lost as well as to help tighten up all the loose sink that is now the result of losing the weight.

I keep telling myself that it wont happen over night. I wont get a six pack or rippling pecks and biceps in a week. It took me years and months to get the weight on and the same to loose the weight, all be it in shorter amount of time for the latter. I have been trying to go to the gym every other day and doing some cardio and strength training to help. Thankfully one of my new friends has offered to help me push myself at the gym. I am really thankful that she is willing to help me out and in return I hope to help her out with her goal to gain some muscle mass as well.

  1. Yeah, the biggest thing is remembering that it takes time to take it off, build it up, or whatnot. It took time to put it on, right? :) Here’s hoping we do well. If you want to start counting calories, check out myfitnesspal and we can support each other in our eating. :)

    • I don’t think I will get to the point of counting calories, but tank you for the suggestion. I know it’s something that I will end up becoming too obsessed with and it would just make the whole thing for me feel like it was a job rather then doing it to keep healthy.

But I will do everything in my power to help you keep up your amazing work and to push you as much as I can to get to your goal. I know how amazing it is once you have reached that point and then keep pushing yourself towards the next goal. Keep up the good work yourself and thank you for the positive feed back :)
